Orks Ambush Rashidiman Veterans

A large warband of orks attacked the OPDF returning from the warp rift. Imperial forces were fresh from the Wolfram attack and were bolstered by 609th elements.
Under the initial assault, ground forces fell back to sector 65-Gamma and requested air support. Artillery rounds began falling on the horde of xenos.
The last surviving infantry squad, that had entered the rift was attacked by kommandos and the left flank began to falter. The sentinels beside them could only keep firing at the oncoming ork walkers.
At the hydra platform was where the boyz hit, the platform was quickly covered with bodies.
Air forces were called in, mostly taking aim at the enemy walkers, as well as blasting large amounts of infantry.

The Warboss began taking apart the weakened left flank. It destroyed infantry and armor alike.
The orks began pouring into the artillery line, the air support and sentinels struggling to place their shots.
The arrival of the airborne squad was enough to hold the horde at bay, although many important casualties were lost, along with their knowledge of Rashidiman.

Prisoners Released, Ceasefire Broken

The ceasefire between Imperial Command and the Wolfram chapter was violated this week as political prisoners were exchanged in Sector 65-Gamma.
The uncooperative Wolfram prisoner was being transported to the selected area when he attempted an escape. The Lord Commissar's driver was stripped bare but unharmed.
Primaris Artios was first to detect the arrival of the astartes and the OPDF forces had gone to ground. A single shot, echoing through the narrow streets, was enough to start the marines firing.
The Wolfram made their assault drop, but the loyal guns were ready for them. Even power armour fails against the light of the Emperor.
The boys on thudd gun duty were able to locate Pilot, who was immediately loaded into the waiting centaur. The canny Navy pilot was able to use the mounting combat to escape his captors.
In this pict, one can clearly see the heretical markings of the Wolfram. A full Inquisitorial investigation has been ordered, Jack Daniels of the Ordo Hereticus has been given the lead.

The armour was challenged by the astartes' dreadnought...
But the missile launcher team was able to give it pause.

So great was their uncalled for anger, they swept from their drop pod, and charged into a bloody close combat.
Lord Dragger was spotted, he had taken Primaris Artios down, the infantry command as well, so three missiles were ordered up for him. Kill was confirmed.
Both sides were forced to fall back due to casualties and 65-Gamma is still considered contested.

Daily Lope 09

Chocolate-crapping Rabbit Day is almost here! That means only one thing; Easter Egg Hunt 2!! This one is going to be b@d@$$ed! In the grimdark future you have to fight for your chocolate, join the fb event here or leave a megalomaniac comment to show your support!

There is also a war brewing, over at the Ninja Den. It seems that its shadowy resident has offered up a challenge (over here) to the Rabbit Hole. That is going to be one hell of a battle report!

In other bits, my apologies for the lack of posts. One could say I'm trying to get back on the horse (now where did I put that laser lance?)

Until the next "Daily", be well.

Attack on Outpost IV-XX

Outpost IV-XX, the Imperial foothold on Rashidamin, close to the rift leading to Odin.
Imperials are awaiting Mechanicus engineers to remove the heretical ruins. The area has been declared stable, but warp energies still move like tides across the planet.
The jungle environment is causing little difficulties for the Imperials, only a couple of cases of 'jungle lung' as the Belters call it.
Early on the fourth day of holding the outpost, traitor forces were spotted advancing towards the rift. Both the Wolframs and the OPDF prepared to repel the heretics.
Bolstered by the astartes, defense lines were drawn.
609th reconnaissance elements, on request, joined the defense line. Infantry began reporting the tell-tale signs of daemonic interference, bleeding eyes and migraines. The anti-fugue pills stopped the worst of the warp-taint.
The Imperial advance was cautious at first, expecting daemonic assaut.
Without command, the OPDF units were momentarily taken back by the assault, but morale was bolstered by the presence of the astartes, they pushed back with holy lasgun fire.
Calls for the reserve forces filled the vox as the body count began to rise.
Airborne units were first to arrive, their valkyrie rocketing down the river sending its payload into the traitor marines. Plumes of smoke began to rise from the battlefield.
The stormtroopers, without heed for their personal safety, dropped directly into the enemy forces. Hellgun fire sent many daemons back to the warp with a hail of Imperial light.
The chaos sorceror known as Tristan challenged the left flank. In response artillery fire preceded the assault of the airborne. Their ancient armor cracking under massed fire, but some still remained to threaten the Lord Commissar.
No amount of firepower could keep the daemons from combat. Assaults broke out across the battlefield with many guardsmen and droids falling to claws.
Alone and surrounded by the agents of evil, the stormtrooper sargent crawled out from under the corpses of daemons and charged the traitors. He was drowned by chainswords and boltpistols. He will be remembered.
IKE once again danced with Severinia, unable to bring his guns to bear he was rendered too damaged to fight again.
Late in the battle, a Wolfram drop pod hit the landing pad, breaking the Black Legion marines and taking Pilot. We cannot guess at the marines' agenda.
An attempt to avenge IKE was made by the 609th sentinels, but it seems that more than lascannons are needed to fell her.
The Wolfram titan held the center like an immovable metal cliff, daemons breaking at its feet like water.
Slowly being overrun, the fallback order was given, the weight of the chaos assault too much for the defenders. Imperial forces were to rendezvous on the Odin side of the rift.
When air-support attempted to retrieve Pilot, the Wolfram marines activated teleporter beacons. As the valkyrie landed, they were not to be found.

Current orders are to pull back and await 609th support in Tempestus.

Prisoner Exchange

It all happened so fast. We were escorting the Pilot back to the Imperial side, as the Imperials prepared to release the Swimming Eagle...

In the confusion of the torn city and lingering chaotic influence on the comm, one or both of the prisoners worms loose and makes a break for it... the crisis escalates, the fragile detente is shattered by an itchy trigger finger.

In Dragger's icy shadow, Sergeant Tarquin loses his cool and it all comes down.
"Enough out of you murdering scum!!" BOOM-PSHSHSH-BAANG!!

"IT'S OFF!! KILL 'EM ALL!!!"

The escaped Pilot is snapped up by an OPDF transport, and Swimming Eagle has skirted around to contact the Marines, emerging from rubble in a stolen greatcoat and officer's peaked hat. Brother Hornze badgers him into cover as the wounds begin to be dealt...

Wolfram's Marines aren't afraid to be savage with Imperials now!

For a moment Dragger threatens the power generator...
...before vanishing in a cloud of frag missiles...

A decidedly human-looking Swimming Eagle shuffled into the eididium, wrapped in a coarse blanket and hugging a cup of steaming coffee.
Kyoob bounced out of his seat to meet him. "Nice to have you back!" His many servo-arms whizzed in an unfriendly manner...
"Sure, it's good to see you too, Morus," Swimming Eagle grumbled.
"Hmmh. Now, they told me you needed to talk to Goldi?"
"If that's possible??"
Kyoob motioned starchily for Swimming Eagle to follow him down a glowing decontam corridor. "The great thing about Goldi," Kyoob said didactically, "is that he's so dang old now, he's mostly components. Hey, I fixed his head!"
Sure enough, the terrifying skull-head in its armoured collar sat in an electrified niche. Its eyes glowed like rubies, pulsing angrily.
"Yes, yes, I have to turn your voicebox on first," fussed Kyoob. "There we go." He stood back.
"zzzntznzzzzzzCatman? hrzzzzz..." stuttered the head.
"Yes, it's me."
"Tch! Tsshsh! brnzzzzzzzz... tell our people, forget about Rashidamin. We're finding another planet. zzz."
"After all the-"
"WE ARE FINDING ANOTHER F#$%ING PLANET," shouted the head.
