Moving the Rabbit Hole - Part One

Moving.  Fate has decided to grant us a garage, which the rabbits immediately filled with a truckload of gaming supplies. (Clockwise from left:) Death Mt., cases, boxes of bitz and other games, built terrain in tubs, raw terrain material in totes, the drawers of battlefield accessories, and a couple of garbage cans.
My cases, a couple of borrowed ones (3), some commissions (2), Sam's cases (2), and (not seen) a bin of tanks.  It was a tight fit and very little damage was done, thanks to all who helped.
The first unpacking; the project desk.  Although not complete, I am able to dig into the paints and make some progress, which pleases me.  The project desk lives in the living room (aka RPG room) so I don't become estranged from the rest of the house.
Things are getting shifted to their correct locations, more to come....

Daily Lope 12 - New Places and Old

Greetings fellow bunnies, hares, rabbits and humans. As GottaCon has become our unofficial start of the geek year. (A geek year is like a tax year, but way better.) With this new year a few plans have come to light, involving a handful of games. Personally, I want to roam the plentiful variety of gaming, and I hope to expand my repertoire. Some major RHG ideas are:
The Phasian War (40k)
The new year's standings will begin from zero and rise for each army as they fight. Battles are not restricted to those in the Rabbit Hole, all games which have posted content on the RHG blog will receive win/draw/loss. Just be sure to be clear that the battle was indeed in the Phasian Sector and what the outcome was.

Throw Downs (Warmachine/Hordes)
I once ran the GWF (Giant Wrestling Federation), which was a fun and quick sport , ran weekly and was bloody as hell. A Throw Down is like that, and on Sundays. Ranging in points, paired or multiplayer, novice or veteran, depending on our moods, and every Sunday 2-5pm. Standings will be noted.

Nightmare Worlds (Malefaux)
Very soon, the Rabbit Hole will be picking up the Malefaux ruleset and some minis. Anyone who has/wants a set of these minis, now is the time to start (starting Guild, I cannot resist undead gunslingers...)

Zero Terminus (nWo)
The new green book is circulating, cleaning up a few rough edges left from the last edition. As far as I know, there are five campaigns on the go, and going strong. WTF?! takes place on the 5th, with a bunch of rockstars who have commandeered the storyline, (sorry Tayo, we ARE pirates.) Transcendence also travels the 5th seeking a way to release the prisoners within the 3 masks, but Paw Gour is never far. Sogrum's technology is reaching an epoch, and a brand new group set out to earn a living amid steam and sorcery. The 0ld 0rder is close to their first goal and it will only get harder once they find it. The fifth is a campaign which I am planning to drop in on and know little about.

BRUTAL!!
This is a game I must play soon. I will barter with drinks.....

Merch!
The most immediate swag plans/ideas are RHG and nWo patches by summer. "Stealth" t-shrits by then or just after. Dice, d10's and d6's, with the rabbit as soon as I find a place to get them done.
Oh.....tWo
The Toon World Order is coming, in comic form. It's like nWo on ancient Mayan tea on Saturday morning in a TV store. Bring a pillow.

Daily Lope 11 - Da Ryan's Ork Kopta

This awe-inspiring aircraft was built by a longtime friend and adversary known as Da Ryan. He is a true ork mek, and this kopta is one of his best. Somewhere under there was a stormraven, quite the improvement.
Its dead-shooty and fast, and it can hold troops. I think it is a pod-racer-kopta-jet which will likely end up in a dogfight with a vulture.
Oh orks...until next round.

Daily Lope 10 - Post 101!

For the 101st post, I thought it would be nice to see the Daily Lope again. I have a feeling that things are going to start heating up around the Hole again soon. GottaCon approaches (less than two months away now), I know I have a ton of projects to work on.

nWo has seen a change in the Sogrum game. The Diablo have been stopped by the heroic efforts of the victims and their comrades, scene fades. Fifty years pass, the Steam Age begins, and new victims are met. Changes also come from Transcendence as they return to the Fifth still in flux.

The Phasian War continues. Recently the Striken have been tangling with the 609th, but the Emperor's light still shines on them, for now. More datasheets are to be made (like for the quadruped), and posted.

A Terrain Weekend will be called next month with an aim to finish and repair as much terrain as possible. The coffee will flow.

nWo minis have been popping up all over the place, thanks to Samalander and S.E. I have been inspired to make some myself, keep an eye out for them...
So far, so good!
Until next round...

Daily Lope 09

Chocolate-crapping Rabbit Day is almost here! That means only one thing; Easter Egg Hunt 2!! This one is going to be b@d@$$ed! In the grimdark future you have to fight for your chocolate, join the fb event here or leave a megalomaniac comment to show your support!

There is also a war brewing, over at the Ninja Den. It seems that its shadowy resident has offered up a challenge (over here) to the Rabbit Hole. That is going to be one hell of a battle report!

In other bits, my apologies for the lack of posts. One could say I'm trying to get back on the horse (now where did I put that laser lance?)

Until the next "Daily", be well.

Daily Lope 08

On the outside of the Western Fringe there is a section of war-scarred space. Once known as the Phasian System, the Phasian Cloud spins around a warp storm which has taken residence within its star. Several planets stay caught in the magnetic pull of the storm, orbiting through interstellar ruin.

The Phasian Cloud travels through the galaxy faster than it should and is beginning to reach the Odin System. The Imperial world of Odin Prime, beset already by heretic forces, now faces the oncoming warp storm and its inhabitants. The Inquisition has taken command of the system's defenses under the overall command of Inquisitess-General Bacardi.

The Phasian War will work on a strategy point system, which are earned by playing games, in addition to campaign maps. Strategy points are earned after a game; win 3, draw 2, loss 1. These points can then be used to purchase veteran abilities, stratagems (from Planetstrike or CoD for points listed, Apoc for twice), spearheads, or challenge special missions. (A definitive list and fiddly rule-bits will be it's own post, soon.)

This way an army could win a game (earning 3sp), then challenge an annihilation mission, and purchase a power generator for those veterans. If the power generator survives it can be used in the next game(s), like the veteran abilities in the main book. Thoughts?
And I will leave you with a (blurry) picture of my map (before any hex-mapping, etc). I hope that helps with your campaign thinking,
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 07

Good day associates and adversaries!

The 40k campaign needs a name. reply with a suggestion, then we will do a poll. (My recommendation is The Phasian Apotheosis.) How are your maps coming along? As far as the maps are concerned here is a good example;
It has different terrain types and major locations marked out. (This is the First Dominion, in nWo.) The maps will be made digital, with a hex grid applied, and 'Waypoints' (ways to get from one map to another) set out. Mapmakers will receive 'free' area on the map they make that they control (others might have to fight for a foothold, we will see). The other campaign-related stuff you will need is an army name and possibly an army objective.

The Rabbit Hole likes to have open gaming/hobby hours. Here they are for the rest of February;
-Sun 20 -1pm to 530pm
-Mon 21 -1pm to 10pm
-Thu 24 -1pm to late
-Fri 25 -1pm to 630pm
-Sat 26 -1pm to 530pm
-Sun 27 -1pm to 530pm
-Mon 28 -1pm to 10pm

Happy dice-rolling!
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 06

Coffee is brewing, all is well.

This one might be a bit short, but that is how the hammer falls. I just found a new blog out there, and to highlight how neat I think it is, take a look at this (it might solve some broken-arm-syndromes). Also, as we all know, SI's painting challenge is rubble (and you got 16 days). I am starting mine this morning, it shall be simple I think.

Saturday, war, Rabbit Hole, start at one(ish) until six(ish). 40k, 1,500 points?

See you next Daily, Ricalope.

Daily Lope 05

Now that GottaCon is over (I miss it too), plots and plans begin to form. The first is Warchallenge, the first Warmachine/Hordes Rabbit Hole event. As far as I know, there are 5-6 hobbyists who are taking up the challenge, I wish them all the best of luck, I can't wait to see what they come up with.

But I also hear people say things like, "I don't want to buy all the books, stacks of boxes, and/or learn a new game." I sympathize, I play Imperial Guard. But, at the risk of sounding like a commercial, Privateer Press basically gives away the rules. Don't get me wrong, the books are amazing with both stunning art and involved stories, but not necessary for basic play. Battlegroups have a 'starter rules' booklet, and every blister/box has a stat card (or more) included.

And you don't need that many models (but I will get into that on another Daily).
If 40k is your thing, and you like to play games, we will be starting a campaign. On Sunday, Feb 20, come over (with an army, say 1000 points) and we can discuss politics, cartography and experience. If we can 'create' four different zones/worlds/warzones, (such as Hive Tempestus, Daemon World, ?catland?)...

ok, my brain just stopped, until next round,
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 04

Scratch-build rules, not proxies or stand-ins, homemade awesomeness. Here are three of the datasheets that I ave done up so far (the blank one is available for download at the GW site). First, Charion the 609th's medivac (medic's datasheet coming soon).
The Ciaphas Vanquisher was a smaller super-heavy designed for the Oden PDF, mainly used for (apocalyptic) street fights. I need to finish this guy.
And, the Beer Wagon.

What are your thoughts? Balanced/unbalanced?
In the near future I hope to post datasheets for Swimming Eagle's super-heavy walker and the dreaded Quadraped, amid other things...
See you for the next "daily",
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 03

Greetings from the Hole.

The War of the Peacock went well, that was quite the enjoyable game, thanks to everyone who took part (especially the spectators and Peacock's Billiards). I doubt that the war for the Phasian Cloud is over....

Across the pond, the Sheffield Irregulars have put up this month's painting challenge; RUBBLE! I have to admit, I was a bit confused when I first read it, but then all kinds of hobby ideas came to mind. Whatever you come up with, don't start painting it until the 3rd!

I am tossing around the idea of a paint competition. Build and paint a ten point battlegroup for Warmachine or Hordes by April 2nd. The best voted battlegroup will get a prize. The prize? How does a heavy warjack or warbeast sound, painted by myself for your collection?

Your thoughts?
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 02

As you might be able to tell, the Daily Lope isn't all that daily, but its a great name so I will stick with it. Today's topic; This Blog.

There are a few contributors; Swimming Eagle, Samalander and myself you have already met. Contributors can make posts, wherein they can inform us of events, things of note, open up conversations, or post fiction. This blog is in no way meant to take away from pre-existing blogs, in fact it is meant to encourage them. Anyone can comment, even if you don't game at the Rabbit Hole, as we value the opinions of all gamers.

Recommendations may be made to add things to the event list. Conventions, terrain parties, big a$$ed games, and what have you. Obviously, anything happening at the Rabbit Hole will be noted there, and if you are a gaming addict (or just don't want to miss games) check that space often.

So, here's to cross-posts, rants and q&a's,
Ricalope.

Daily Lope 01

Thought I would start off with a real post. Good day to you all.

Many of you only have 17 days left until GottaCon, who is going to be there? How are your projects doing? Well, here are how mine fare;
- Death Mtn. almost painted....
- Eldar table. Two pieces left...to build....
-Tyranid table. 2 to build, 2 to finish painting.
- 40k tournament army. Ready, with the possible exceptions of some touch ups.
- Dice Bag's paint competition. Single model finished, squad finished, large almost done.
- Energy and Health. Almost there (most likely take a sick day...lol)
- Gamer Kit. Not even started the list.

Actually, that was a lot more "finished"s than I thought there would be....
